A scalable approach to reef recovery

The Restoration Blueprint

Our methodology moves beyond traditional conservation. We utilise an end-to-end engineering framework designed to bridge the gap between scientific theory and large-scale marine recovery.

  • Strategic Ecological Assessment: We use ecological data to determine the best intervention sites, ensuring that they strengthen and supplement the local ecosystem while increasing future resilience.
  • In-Situ Stock Expansion: Our scalable coral farms utilise locally sourced, site-matched species to rapidly cultivate genetically diverse and adaptable ecosystems.
  • Targeted Deployment: By utilising cultivated stock to maximise recruitment and facilitate targeted restoration efforts, we can supplement natural recovery processes and accelerate reef maturation by years.
  • Active Ecosystem Management: We do not just restore; we protect. Our high-density farm habitats provide a biological reservoir ready for rapid response and ongoing support for local reefs at risk of degradation.

Case Study | Quantifying Net-Gain and Biodiversity Uplift

UWA Research Partnership

Reef Craft operates at the intersection of industry and academia. Through our long-term collaboration with the UWA Marine Futures Lab, we are quantifying the success of our Cockburn Sound farm through rigorous ecological monitoring.

Translating research into tangible action, we have installed a series of artificial structures at depths of 5-7 m across a range of exposure levels. This has turned the farm into a living laboratory where we are monitoring:

  • Biodiversity Net-Gain: Tracking the return of local fish and invertebrate populations to our farms.
  • Natural Recruitment: Measuring wild settlement of coral larvae and other organisms attracted to our farms.
  • Ecosystem Resilience: Assessing growth rates and environmental tolerance of farmed coral to ensure long-term ecosystem stability.

Regulatory-Ready, Science-Backed Data

Nature-Positive Compliance

As Western Australia transitions toward a Nature-Positive future, scientifically verified data is becoming the new gold standard for environmental approvals and compliance.

Our scientific framework is designed to meet the Net-Gain impact and reporting requirements of the 2026 Federal Environmental reforms. We are defining the verifiable metrics needed for impact offsets, ensuring that every project delivers a clear, measurable benefit to the marine environment.
